Atmospheric soot is one of the most relevant pollutant in urban areas and is therefore  of major importance for health and legislative authorities. The main objective of the present study, presented as Master Degree Thesis at Università degli studi di Torino, is the estimation of the total amount of the elements Na, Mg, Al, K, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn As, Se, Br, Sr, Cd, Sb, Cs, La, Ce, Sm, W and Pb in PM10 and in PM2,5 collected at ARPA terminal in Saliceto (Cuneo) and the comparison between them. For the element’s analysis two analytic techniques were used: Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES)  and High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (HR-ICP-MS).
The results obteined and the seasonal trend were reported; finally a comparison between PM10 and PM2,5 and between PM10 sampled in Saliceto and PM10 collected in a urban center was performed. The data were submitted to chemiometric treatment.
