FactSage has been intensively used in ITU, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department since 2002. The program is an invaluable tool for our researchers who work on the understanding and optimization of existing processes and also the development of new processes. This talk will emphasize the importance of the “Equilibrium” module of the FactSage package used in some experimental cases carried out in our ceramic processing and extractive metallurgy laboratories such as TiB2 synthesis by SHS and carbothermal methods, recovery of valuable metals from EAF flue dusts and ancient copper slags, FeNi production from lateritic ores, dolomite calcinations and following Mg production by pidgeon method, etc.
